Carotene is being used in the food and pharmaceutical industries as the parent of natural pigments and vitamin A, but the direct extraction of carotene from salina has just begun in China, so the utilization of carotene and its solvent content is very important. There is no standard for chromatographic analysis. There is no ready-made method in foreign countries due to different processes.

Haohan Chromatography (Shandong) Application Technology Development Co., Ltd. used the headspace method to determine the residual solvent content in β-carotene. The penicillin vial was used as a small headspace volume to improve sensitivity, and the method recovery was 112.4% with a mean standard deviation of 11.41. This method can be applied to the determination of residual solvents in oil-soluble finished products and intermediate materials.
