传统的非离子表面活性剂一般为脂肪醇或烷基酚的乙氧基化物。含有环氧乙烷 (Eo)和环氧丙烷(PO)能改变非离子表面活性剂的物理性能和表面活性。多年来,许多表面活性剂厂商一直在利用这种作用。 PO的疏水性比EO的疏水性强。事实上,如果PO链足够长(PO≥15),就成为表面活性剂的疏水基。在BASF Wya-ndette的Pluronie系列产品中,聚丙二醇是疏水基,是熟知的例子。联合碳化物公司的Tergitol X非离子表面活性剂,即单官能团低碳醇丙氧基化的乙氧化物(表1,结构A)是另一类例子,PO链中含一些EO基团。象辛醇那样的中碳醇只需加入极少量

Traditio nal non-io nic surfactants are usually ethoxylates of fatty alcohols or alkyl phenols. The presence of ethylene oxide (Eo) and propylene oxide (PO) can change the physical properties and surface activity of non-io nic surfactants. For many years, many surfactant manufacturers have been taking advantage of this effect. The hydro phobicity of PO is stro nger than that of EO. In fact, if the PO chain is long enough (PO ≥ 15), it becomes the hydrophobic group of the surfactant. Among the Pluro nie series products of BASF Wya ndette, polypropylene glycol is a hydrophobic group, which is a well-known example.
